Retired US Ambassador Grover Joseph Rees recently visited the 18 Vietnamese asylum seekers in detention in Kuningan, South Jakarta.
The former US Ambassador to East Timor, Mr Rees previously served as Chief Justice of the High Court of American Samoa. An experienced attorney and law professor, he is a strong defender of human rights, who also works to help BPSOS, an organisation which rescued over 35,000 Vietnamese boat people in the past and continues to provide support to refugees and migrants.
